the environmental toll of traditional toilet paper
It seems obvious now, but back in 2018 we were one of the first to understand that manufacturing traditional toilet paper isn't great for our planet. It means chopping down tons of trees, which hurts wildlife and disrupts ecosystems. Plus, the processes use harsh chemicals that can harm our water and health. And let's not forget, turning trees into toilet paper uses a lot of water and energy, making its environmental footprint even bigger bigger.
our solution
Bamboo is the world's fastest-growing grass, capable of being re-harvested annually for 40-70 years after just 3-5 years to reach full maturity. In contrast, trees can take 25-40 years to mature and might not regrow post-harvest (Source: BBC Science Focus).
Not only does bamboo grow quickly, but it's also a champion of the environment:
- Oxygen Production: It generates over 35% more oxygen compared to trees, making it a lung-friendly choice (Source: Guardian).
- Carbon Fighter: Annually, bamboo can absorb up to 12 tonnes of CO2 per hectare, playing a crucial role in combating climate change (Source: Guardian).
- Soil Saviour: It has a remarkable ability to rejuvenate damaged soil, removing toxins and improving water retention, which in turn fights soil erosion (Source: Global Landscapes Forum; Guardian; National Library of Medicine)
